Coping With Coronavirus 17. NHS Thieves!

I had to call in our local Doctor’s surgery, which is in our small hospital.

There was a sign on the door, asking people to Please don’t steal our equipment.

I asked the receptionist what they were stealing and she said, anything they can get their hands on; masks, gloves, sanitizer, toilet paper.

Our Government is criticised every day for not providing the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our nursing staff, and putting their lives at risk. Some of them are dying daily.

But how much valuable equipment is being stolen Nationwide by horrible thoughtless thieves?

I just can’t understand the mentality of people like that, can you? And I bet it’s not people who you’d suspect of being a thief.

That sweet old lady with a large shopping bag helping herself to PPE equipment and a couple of toilet rolls is a potential murderer!

bb pudding
Bread & butter pudding

This is a British favourite, and simple to make with store cupboard ingredients.

I’m not a great fan of it, but I had some bread to use up so I thought I’d jazz up the recipe a bit –  and it worked!

6-8 slices of bread, buttered. I spread them with my Jamelade. https://b-c-ing-u.com/comments/coping-with-coronavirus-14-want-not-waste-not-jamelade/ But you can use any marmelade.

A shaking of mixed dried fruit

1/2 tsp nutmeg

2 tblsps sugar.

2 eggs

15 fl oz milk

1 tblsp sugar

Dash of vanilla essence

Cut the bread slices in half. place them in a buttered baking dish in layers, buttered side up.

Sprinkle the dried fruit across each layer.

Beat the eggs in a saucepan & add the milk, sugar & vanilla essence.

Bring to the boil. You don’t need to thicken the sauce.

Pour it over the bread & leave to soak for around 30 minutes, pressing the bread down a few times to help it absorb the milk.

Bake in the oven 190C for 35-45 minutes. The top should be golden & crisp.
