Welsh Witterings: Glorious Glastonbury
This week’s Welsh Wittering come from glorious Glastonbury, where I have spent the weekend at Karen Kay’s rather wonderful fairy market.
I have met some wonderful characters and have seen some absolutely amazing costumes. The fair was filled with artisan craftworkers who all produce fantastical faery inspired items from dairy essences, to cards and original artwork, there was certainly something for everyone.
I’m now sat in a self catering apartment known as Dollars, owned and run by Delphi. The booking was last minute and after a very tiring few days I cannot express how relieved I was to nestle into a well equipped, comfortable and well thought out evenings accommodation. The apartment is lovely, peaceful and beautifully decorated. It’s an ideal spot for a nights sleep before exploring Glastonbury town, which is exactly what I will be doing.
I am delighted to report that I spent an immensly pleasurable few hours in The Who’d a Thought It pub in Glastonbury town. I enjoyed the quirky and interesting decor and the food was good quality and home made. My spinach and ricotta lasagna was delicious and was of a good portion size as well. My children tucked into the gallium cheese fries with glee and enjoyed their meals, with empty plates all round bearing testimony to the good food. My husband had fish and chips and the verdict was a big thumbs up. Good crispy batter and excellent flavour. If we hadn’t all been so tired, I would have loved to sample the go.e made puddings, but alas the call of my bed and slumber was strong.
So today I will be having a few hours looking around Glastonbury town before a long drive home to Wales.
We’ve all had a great, hectic albeit it tiring weekend, but it has been great.
