The Pig and Butcher

I owned a pub once; one of several big mistakes in my life.
Oh how different English pubs are now, compared to how they used to be!
One lunchtime, Brian came in the pub, and told me about his Mother, and how he’d persuaded her to write her memoirs about the pub, just before she died.
He gave me a copy, and I was absolutely enthralled when I read it!
I found it again the other day and phoned Brian, who was delighted that I was going to publish it, because that was something that his Mother had really wanted.

The Fireman’s Arms

I’m sure that when you read it, you’ll find it as delightful as I did, as her words were spoken from the heart, and realistically bring to life a bygone age.
