Sydney’s Royal Easter Show is well under way, first held in 1823 Queen Victoria awarded the show the right to use the word “Royal” in its name. It is the occasion when city meets country, and the rural side of Australia is shown and celebrated together with its culture, providing a unique experience for everyone. With 400- plus enthusiastic volunteers smiling and showing you the way around, it is the largest event held in Australia, and the sixth largest in the world.

The Grand Parade is an iconic event that has been taking place since 1907, when the best of the best in Australian Agriculture make their way around Spotless Stadium in a spectacular procession. Three Parades showcase Sydney Royal Competition Winners including animals, producers, and champion wood choppers, in celebration of Australian Agriculture. The Sydney Royal Easter Show Grand Parade is believed to be the first of its kind in the world. Originally, animals had paraded separately on different occasions but after 1906 the idea of one Grand Parade, comprising all Prize-Winners, was developed. Since then the concept has been copied in every major Agricultural Show in Australia and forms a defining part of the show’s character. The Grand Parade is a worthy sight to be seen and not forgotten.
An extensive Firework display is held on the last day which is the 30th March.

She has given up looking for the lizard but watches the birds avidly as they feast every morning on their seed and porridge.
