Founded by Italian restaurateur Giovanni Quaglino – Quaglinos (affectionately known as ‘Quags’) features a two-tier venue split into an upper level lounge and bar, and a lower level dining space complete with a grand centre piece stage for live music acts in the evening. Having undergone a £3m makeover in 2014, Quaglino’s continues to ooze the inherent sophistication and style of Mayfair’s restaurant scene.

The Brasserie-style menu effortlessly takes on British-European cuisine, with items ranging from the zuchinni risotto, roast venison and the grilled sea bass. If you’re feeling more adventurous, the pan fried cod with curried mussels is ideal for those looking for a spicy kick! Alternatively, for those vegetarians, the parmasen gnocchi is perfectly creamy and warning.

Whilst the menu was impressive, in my mind the real showstoppers here were the illustrious variety of desserts. Peanut-butter fans will go nuts for the chocolate fondant with peanut butter ice cream, deliciously smooth and rich. The crème brulee (as recommended by our waiter) was truly one of the best I’ve ever had.

On weekends, Quag’s opens its doors to the early bird brigade with an exciting ‘Q-brunch’ menu. Opt for either 2 courses at £25 or 3 courses at £29. For those of you unopposed to daytime drinking, add bottomless Prosecco for £20 a head.

Quag’s take an innovative spin on its cocktail menu. Its timeline format takes you on a brief history of time, from the 1927’s Cheating Wife to the present day Time Machine.

If you manage to head down before the 29th September they’ll be a cocktail tasting menu to take advantage of. 4 mini cocktails each paired with a delicious canape, priced at just £55 for two people.

With live music acts almost every night, there’s a constant buzz to the place that gives a sense of casual grandeur, giving Quag’s an undoubted twinkle in its eye.
