For years my friends have raved about Holiday Parks. They bought a luxury caravan that Jenny calls her Home from Home. Then they invested in a Pre-loved Caravan for her family to use, so they can all have holidays and short breaks together for a very low cost.
It had never interested me until a couple of years ago when we went on a Bargain Long Weekend, and I was hooked! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They all made eye contact and said Hello!
We’ve just returned from two nights at the Camber Sands Holiday Park, and oh boy did it do us good! Our caravan had two bedrooms, two loos and slept six. It was in a peaceful part of the park, near the beach, and a five minute stroll to all the entertainment facilities.
It was so immaculate that I thought it was brand new! It wasn’t.
Daughter Rana and little Isabella came for the second night and they both had a wonderful time. I think they tried everything!
Parkdean Resorts have 71 Parks. Camber Sands is one of the biggest and most popular with owners and holidaymakers.
There are over 1,000 Caravans and the site is open for 11 months of the year. It is in between the Camber Sands sandy beach, seven miles long, and the Sussex countryside.
See my last Article;
Security is very tight which gives me peace of mind. The site is fenced with a guard on the gate, security cameras are everywhere and security guards walking around 24/7, plus the Entertainments staff walking around in the daytime.
There’s a supermarket, Entertainment Arcades, and a Theatre which has entertainment from morning for the children till late at night – all free of charge.
Celebrities are booked all through the Summer. We saw ex-JLS member Aston Merrygold.
Little Isabella, aged five, watched the Entertainments Crew and the dressed-up animals performing on the stage and I couldn’t take my eyes off her. The joy in her face was beautiful. Who needs Disneyworld?
The Children’s Play Areas are suitable for all ages, with all the usual swings, slides, etc, an Indoor Soft Play Area and a Splash Zone.
Some of the other entertainments are paid concessions, but very popular, like Crazy Golf, various Bumper Cars & Train Rides, and Pedal Bike Hire.
There are four Indoor Swimming Pools and a Gym, Sauna and Spa.
So the fun never stops, whatever the weather!
If you’re hungry or thirsty, there is a choice of Bars, Cafes and Restaurants.
Outside is The Beach Shack, for candy floss, sandwiches, wraps, ice creams, etc. And The Chippy serves Fish & chip takeaways. The Deli on the Deck serves snacks and sandwiches.
The Boathouse Restaurant opens for breakfast and stays open all day and evening.
More about that in my next article.
The Rye Bar, next to the Theatre, is for adults only and there’s a bar in the Theatre for drinks and bar food.
We brought our own food along to eat one meal a day in the Caravan, but the menu food and prices were so good that we ate out most of the time.
Camber Sands Holiday Park is affordable Heaven for families, and it’s also ideal for retired couples. They can have their Caravan in a peaceful position and there’s a lot to do in the area. The beach is beautiful, and there are the Camber Sands shops and a bus stop right outside the front gate with buses to the beautiful historic town of Rye, Hastings, Dover, the Dungeness Nature Reserve, or Ashford’s factory outlets.
Of course, out of school holiday season the Park is completely different and much quieter, but a lot of Owners spend the weekend there.
So whatever type of holiday break you prefer, there’s something at Camber Sands Holiday Park to suit everyone.
I’m aiming to go back there in the Autumn, and I’ll be looking at the Pre-loved Holiday Homes. There are always several for sale!
PS Would you like a Holiday Park story?
When Superstar Robbie Williams broke up with Take That! He went into hiding and all the Media were trying to find him.
One of the Caravans suddenly had blacked-out windows and rumour quickly spread that Robbie was hiding inside.
The Park was invaded by lorries, vans and cars, and there were film crews, photographers and journalists swarming around everywhere.
No, Robbie wasn’t hiding there, and nobody knows how the rumour started. But the Park made a fortune!
