Christmas is a holiday of peace, tradition, family, good drink and food, and yes, of Christmas markets. We, Czechs, are heading to the Christmas markets to “tune into the Christmas mood”. We visit not only the local markets in our country, but also in neighboring countries (popular are for example markets in Vienna, Dresden or Krakow). On the other hand, foreigners from neighboring countries come to visit ours. Today’s article will focus on Christmas markets in Prague.

There are three main markets in Prague. They take place in the Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky), Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) and Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí). The last two are held from 30.11. 2019 to 6.1. 2020. Markets On Republic Square ends earlier, on 30.11. 2019. Shops are open every day from 10:00 to 22:00, some until midnight (those with food and drinks). Entry is free.

Why visit Prague Christmas Market and what can you find here?

It offers traditional Christmas delicacies, handmade crafts or delicious drinks such as hot chocolate and spicy mulled wine.

Markets are a great alternative to traditional Christmas shopping. You will surely find inspiration for the purchase of Christmas gifts and a wide range of decorations, toys, jewelry, winter clothing and accessories.

If you decide to visit the festive markets, you will surely get into the right Christmas mood.

Prague is a beautiful city with an even nicer historical center which is charming at any time of the year. The connection with Christmas creates a beautiful holiday atmosphere here.

The Christmas Market in the Old Town Square offers a daily program. On the stage there are various ensembles (not only) from the Czech Republic. These are mainly children’s choirs and folk ensembles. Singing and dancing to traditional Christmas carols will bring you closer to the culture of the Czech Republic.

Come and tune in to the Christmas atmosphere in Prague!
