Rachel’s Wanderings in Spain – 4 – Stunning Scenery in Seville Province
Andalucia never ceases to amaze me. Twenty-three years I’ve lived here now and the views, the open roads, the scenery is always beautiful. Different around every corner. This week we’ve been from mountainous, olive tree covered Jaen province over to the flat arid plains of Sevilla.
Between the patchwork of, now golden brown because of the heat, fields there are brilliantly vivid yellow patches of sunflowers that can be seen from a good distance. Depending on the time of day and direction you’re travelling you’ll get a full facial glance or a shy turning nod. Glorious vibrant yellow under the scorching sun with often long empty roads. Just one reason I love where I live, enjoy trips out and want a camper van or motor home. And that’s just what this trip was about.
I touched on our wanting a van in my last post –

well this one was a little more research. We went to see the largest restorer and converter of VW vans in Andalusia and boy did we learn a lot! The real reason was to see whether they sell spares to ordinary folk like us. They do. But the information and history from an obviously besotted VW lover was just priceless. And we go onwards better informed in our search.
There’s nothing we love more than a good trundle through this vast area we call home and Sevilla province is one we don’t get to very often. It’s a huge area Andalucia and if you’re not really sure what, where, how it is have a read of my blog post on Only Spain – Where and What is Andalucia.
We travelled the length and breath in our roles as camp site inspectors for several years, which I have to say I realise I miss when out on a marathon drive. With windows opens, hair streaming, hot air and sunshine it’s the long, lazy (not so hazy these days) weeks of summer which come and go quickly with relief and regret!
So from the plains of Sevilla to the desert of Almeria where we’re heading this week to view a gorgeous almost forty year old VW camper van – I’m so excited. Whether we end up buying it or not just seeing these old vans preserved in good condition is so great to see.
So wee you in two weeks for the latest….
