Ferrari P80 – where the P could stand for Prototype, or Pornography
In a break with tradition for these pages, Iain Robertson is avoiding a critical appraisal of the latest car and allowing you to view a stunning one-off supercar built for a multi-Ferrari owner, whose name remains a closely-guarded secret…
I do not wish to spoil your appreciation of something so stunning and extrovert. I am going to make no comments. I simply state a handful of facts and allow you to pore over the stunning photographs. It helps that it is a Ferrari.
It is called P80.
It is a ‘Prototype’ class of car, unlikely to ever be driven on public roads.
Its development programme commenced in 2015.
It uses a Ferrari 488 GT3 chassis as a base.
Its engine power is undisclosed.
Conclusion: Paying homage to prototype sports cars of Ferrari’s past but indulging in aerodynamic perfection has resulted in the exclusive Ferrari P80. Its cost is astronomical but, as a statement machine, it has no peers.
