On the luxury side of Rhodes with Atrium Hotels – World meanderings n°154

By Annick Dournes & Frederic de Poligny

Obviously, Rhodes can fulfil anybody’s expectations with Medieval and Renaissance heritage, countless beaches with warm water, typical Aegean villages, world-renowned kite and windsurf sites, effervescent nightlife… and seemingly never-ending sunshine. With three hotels set in the most significant locations of the island the 5-star Atrium Hotels can, in addition to all this, introduce you to the luxurious island way of living. This is where to enjoy Rhodes in the best resorts of the island.

If not small Rhodes is not a very big island so you can visit it by car staying in the same hotel during your all stay if you’re not the kind to change places every three or four days. But if on the contrary you only want to drive short distances you can also opt for short stays in two or three of the Atrium Hotels. In each one you will find the same premium accommodation options, upscale facilities, high-end services, top gastronomic experiences, wellness programs and entertainment. But in each one you will be immersed in a different decor, atmosphere and experience. Three different journeys in just one journey!

In Atrium Hotels everything is à la carte. When booking you can choose among a vast array of rooms and suites or villas, packages including breakfast, half board or premium all-inclusive, wedding or/and honeymoon special stays, free transfers, flight reservation… The dining offer is impressive. In each of the three hotels you will find some of the best restaurants of the island. Whether on the beach, by a pool, on a rooftop, behind a cascading waterfall… they propose a vast choice of options from Greek, Italian, Asian or seafood… In each hotel the main buffet restaurant proposes themed evening allowing half board and all-inclusive guests to enjoy different buffets and menus every day. Even if you don’t book a table in one of the “à la carte” restaurants you can escape monotony and have a different gourmet experience each day of your stay.

People working in Atrium Hotels are genuinely kind and helpful. Whether at the reception, in the bars and restaurants, by the pools, on the beach, in the gardens… each time you meet someone there come a smile and a kind word. This may sounds like a detail, but details make all the difference in luxury hotels.

5-star Atrium Platinium Hotel near Rhodes medieval town

The Atrium Platinium overlooks the beautiful Ixia Bay and its long sandy beach. It’s been built on the slope of a hill and its low white buildings seem to be inlaid in their arid surroundings making it difficult to see them from afar. But this architecture only keeps its cards hidden and when entering the lobby you will be struck by its amazing size. Everything has been designed spacious in the hotel and you will have plenty of room everywhere you go. The Atrium Platinium is only a few minutes away from the World Heritage Medieval Rhodes old town that is an absolute must see when visiting the island. Rhodes international airport is only a few miles away and the hotel is the perfect place to start your holidays in Rhodes.

On Ixia Bay hotels are not allowed to have a private beach but with a fantastic pool area this is not a problem at Atrium Platinium. All rooms and suites have spectacular views over the Aegean Sea or the hotel’s gardens. They are vast with floor to ceiling bay windows, wooden floor, modern style furniture and soothing colours.

There are four different restaurants at the Atrium Platinium. The Archipelagos is the gourmet restaurant set on top of the main building. Make sure to book a table in time to enjoy the magnificent sunset over the bay and the Aegean Sea it will make your elegant and delicious dinner twice as good!

5-star Atrium Palace Hotel near ancient Lindos

The Atrium Palace Hotel is located on the eastern coast of the island close to the impressive Lindos acropolis. It will take you less a 45 mn drive on a good road to get there from the city of Rhodes or from the international airport. The hotel has been built along a deserted beach on Kalathos Bay where there is no chance to be disturbed by neighbours! Its architecture is a successful mix of Greek and Italian styles blending white and ochre, colourful majolica tiles, waterfalls and five pools surrounded by lush gardens filled with flowers, palm trees and oleanders. A true green oasis set on a beautiful beach! The hotel is dedicated to relaxation and has a huge spa with a big indoor pool and gym.

6You will be able to choose from a vast array of rooms and suites designed for couples and families. They all are spacious, filled with light and soberly decorated in blue, beige and white with wooden floor. To really treat yourself, book a villa with a garden and outside private pool. They really offer huge spaces and the pool is perfect for an early morning coffee before breakfast, an evening drink before dinner or a refreshing splash after a hot day visiting the island.

The hotel has three restaurants to enjoy gourmet menus near the beach or behind a cascading waterfall. You can also opt for Symposium, the buffet restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its big terrace overlooking the main pool is perfect when it’s not to hot and the big buffet simply is amazing. Breakfast offers so many food options that you will probably get back to your table with a plate over-filled with tempting things to eat.  Every evening is different with themed buffet dinners plus an interesting main course menu served at your table. A true gourmet experience far from the usual international cuisine buffet served in most all-inclusive hotels.

5-star Atrium Prestige Hotel at the southern-most part of the island

Last but not least the Atrium Prestige is set on beautiful Lachania Beach on the south eastern coast of Rhodes. It is close to the southernmost point of the island where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea and where Prasonisi Beach welcomes all kite and wind surf addicts.

Once again space is the key word of the hotel. After entering the lobby you feel irresistibly attracted by the huge bay windows that face the sea from above. From there you overlook the immense infinity pool of the hotel, the beach and the deep blue sea. Many of the buildings are topped by pond like roofs filled with water that create an original feeling of freshness while being simply beautiful. Local swallows love them too and you will admire them gracefully flying just above the water surface to drink or catch a bug.

The hotel is a heaven of peace where days pass all too quickly! Once again the hotel proposes a wide range of luxury rooms, suites and above all premium villas with private pool, space and tranquillity. Don’t get me wrong tranquillity doesn’t mean boredom! There is plenty to do in and around the hotel, mostly water sports. Diving excursions, paddle, windsurf and of course kite surf at Prasonisi Beach. A lot of the hotel repeaters are kite surf lovers and go to the hotel several times each year being sure to find ideal weather condition to practice their favourite sport.

The dining experience at Atrium Prestige undoubtedly is one of the best on the island. A very special mention goes to the Asian Restaurant and the Greek Restaurant. Theirs outside terrace overlooking the beach and the sea are the place to be at sunset and food is great. There are three other restaurants with Greek and Italian cuisine and a grill, plus the main buffet restaurant set on top of the main round building that once again offers spectacular views and delicious food.
