Ideally located in the 9th district of Paris at walking distance from Montmartre, the Opera or the famous “Le Printemps” and “Les Galeries Lafayette” department stores, “Maison Mère” has just recently opened its doors. This 4-star hotel of a new kind aims to welcome its guests in a warm atmosphere proposing rooms with style, a fusion restaurant, a trendy bar, a working space open to everyone, live music and art exhibitions… A place with a soul and a great sense of hospitality.
Settle down in an authentic Parisian village
The 9th district of Paris is one of the liveliest villages of the French capital with theatres, department stores, cabarets, museums, shopping venues, bars and restaurants. The hotel is set in “Village Montholon”, a small part of the 9th district in between Pigalle, the “Grands Boulevards” and Gare du Nord where the Eurostar international train arrives. There you will meet “real” Parisians.
“Maison Mère” is a typical Parisian Haussmann building in a small street near the Montholon Square, a public garden, where children, joggers and mere walkers find a green corner shaded by century old horse-chestnut trees. Far from the usual branded shops of touristic districts you will discover in the close by streets many artists and craftsmen’s workshops, several farmers markets and no less than five typical Parisian “passages” the forerunners of today shopping centres, built in the first half of the 19th century. Booksellers, quiet tea rooms, thrift shops, second-hand furniture dealers, tempting bread and pastry shops… you will have plenty to discover.
“Maison Mère” Hotel, a new kind of hospitality
Aziz Temimi is the owner, creator and manager of “Maison Mère”. He started his professional career as strategy consultant in the Middle East before creating his own start-up “E-Commerce Gula”. But as he turned thirty the family tradition caught up with him and like his grandfather, father and brother before him he found out that he wanted to rule a hotel. His former professional life allowed him to stay in many hotels around the world and he used this rich customer experience to create the hotel he would have loved to find during his trips. Not just a place to have a good night sleep but also a place to dine, work, have a chat with friends or perfect strangers, enjoy a hearty brunch, have a unique cocktail enjoying live music, stay in a room with an original decoration where every piece of art is for sale…
The ground floor is a succession of different spaces each one with its own mood and decoration. From the lobby and its classical marble fireplace and colourful mosaic floor to the library-lounge and its spectacular pink sofa or from the adjustable working space where you will enjoy state-of-the-art computing facilities to the lively bar and comfortable dining area, every one will find a place fitting her or his expectations.
Considering Parisian standards the rooms are quiet large (except for five small ones that are proposed at a very good price for a Parisian 4-star hotel allowing low-budget to afford such a good hotel). They all have top quality bedding, custom-made furniture displaying books, decorative objects and pieces of art, bathrooms with top quality equipment… some of them even have a balcony with a view over Paris typical zinc roofs.
The bar proposes a wide range of classical cocktails as well as several original drinks especially created for the hotel by the bar manager, Mathieu Aliche. His team and himself know how to create a friendly and joyful atmosphere and are also in charge of the weekend music events of the hotel.
Santiago Guerrero is in charge of “Hey Honey” the hotel’s restaurant. This Colombian-Swiss chef arrived in Paris nine years ago to study law but soon realised that his true vocation was cooking! After graduating from the famous Parisian Ferrandi catering college he worked in several renowned French restaurants and his now head chef of “Maison Mère”. His cuisine is a fusion of his beloved South-American roots and his French experiences.
The menu is both innovating and affordable. Start with a “homemade pork terrine with Korean pickles” or “Bayonne ham croquetas with jalapeno jam”, continue with Santiago’s iconic “Rainbow ceviche with sweet potato, creamy avocado, jalapeno pickle and plantain” or “homemade smoked nopal tacos with Comté cheese” or have a “Frenchy duck magret for 2 people with black beer sauce… The menu also proposes a wide range of vegan dishes. Finally why not try a delightful “Grand cru chocolate tart and verbena” or a “Pear panna cotta, roasted pear, nuts and cinnamon”… Imagination takes control!
Breakfast at Maison Mère will start your day in the right way with a varied buffet and à-la-carte hot dishes such as the tasty fried eggs with chorizo and coriander created by Santiago Guerrero especially for the hotel!
The hotel proposes special offers for its opening on its official website, one more good reason to discover this new Parisian address. https://www.maisonmere.co/
