Hatton Shopping Village. Lottie Newitt

It’s not just the kid who enjoy a great day out now the summer holidays are in full swing, and an ideal place perfect for kids and grown-ups is Hatton Country World. There’s 100 acres of beautiful Warwickshire countryside, divided into two distinct areas.

There’s the award-winning Hatton Shopping village with its many independent speciality shops set in atmospheric Victorian farm buildings. You’ll find quality craftsmen and women creating beautiful jewellery, glass craft, hand-made sweets and chocolates, clothing, Hatton furniture, a garden centre and so much more. There’s no admission charge and parking is free.

Alongside is Hatton Adventure World – a magical place for youngsters particularly 2 to 12-year-olds. They can meet farm animals, baby animals, there’s a guinea pig village, pony rides and tractor safari rides. Play areas indoor and out, a fun fair – in fact, a host of activities to keep the kids happy all day long.  In fact, you can extend your visit as there’s a caravanning area and tranquil country paths to explore – plus Hatton Locks are on the doorstep with a very nice pub – The Hatton Arms close by too.

Hatton Country World was originally part of a Victorian country estate owned by the Arkwright family – direct descendants of Sir Richard Arkwright, an inventor and entrepreneur of the industrial revolution, credited with creating the spinning frame. The current owners, Johnnie and Arabella Arkwright took farm diversity to great lengths in the early 1980s by creating Hatton Country World.

Year upon year it has grown and transformed. Now, more than 15,000 school children make educational visits; it welcomes 200,000 visitors every year and has 10,000 members.

There’s always lots going on at the Adventure World and the Shopping Village. Visit the website to see what’s on offer; but especially for the summer, here’s a few opportunities that you won’t want to miss.

Hatton Shopping Village. Summer Market

Summer Markets will take place on 4 & 5 August and from 25 – 27 August featuring a diverse range of stalls from local suppliers selling scarves, purses, jewellery, cards, books, photo frames, handbags, clothes, personalised wall and desk clocks, key-rings, accessories, cuddly animal toys, skincare and gifts for animal lovers.

A Children’s Market will take place on 15 & 16 September featuring a range of products for babies and children up to the age of 12 years. There will also be a range of children’s activities plus information on local activities and classes in the area.
