If you have a favourite independent local business, now’s your chance to vote for them in The Muddy Stilettos Awards, which open on 24th April and run until 22nd May 2019. These prestigious lifestyle awards focus on businesses outside of London, as chosen by Muddy Stilettos website’s readers.

Now in their 7th year, the Muddy Stilettos Awards celebrate the most exciting, brilliant businesses across 21 ‘Muddy’ counties, offering a helping hand to the local high street and highlighting the outstanding places that their fun-loving readers want to know about. Also, this year, they are offering a £1,000 cash prize for one of the winning businesses. Plus, an amazing working wardrobe for men and women.

Muddy Stilettos’ Editor-in-Chief Hero Brown says, “We want to support local businesses and our local high streets as practically as possible. The £1000 cash prize is natural progression for the Muddy Stilettos, as our whole ethos is about promoting the best independent local companies.

“We work with sole traders and small businesses every day and know first-hand how hard it is out there at the moment, with Brexit, changing shopping habits and high rentals. The Muddy Awards already help many of these small plucky businesses gain publicity, but my ambition has always been to go further and support these businesses in as practical way as possible. I’m really proud to be offering a cash prize this year, along with a whole range of locally-based business benefits for Muddy Award winners.”

Public nominations open on Weds 24 April, and winners will be announced on Weds 22 May. The winner of the cash prize will be announced in early June.

In my local area of Warwickshire, Coventry and surrounding villages, this will be their third Awards. The Warwickshire Muddy Stilettos is edited by national/regional journalist and local resident Catherine Vonledebur. Last year, the Warwickshire Awards ceremony was held at the chic Parisian-style Café Vin Cinq in Rugby – which was the previous year’s winner in the Best Restaurant category.

Catherine says, “To see so many brilliant indie’s come together and celebrate gaining such recognition from so many Muddy readers was really fantastic.  It was a room filled with hugely talented entrepreneurs and creatives, many with the most incredible personal stories. I love the sense of community spirit as towns come out in force to support their nominated businesses.”
