GET READY FOR CHRISTMAS

By Ann Evans

Christmas is just around the corner, so for fun and festive shopping, put Hatton Country World onto your Christmas ‘to do’ list. Ann Evans looks at what’s in store.

There are two parts to Hatton Country World in Warwickshire, there’s Hatton Adventure World which promises a fabulous day of fun and activities for the family with children up to the age of 12 in a delightful safe environment; and Hatton Shopping Village which is a quintessential English shopping village with a garden centre and lots of specialist shops that you won’t find on the high street.

With Christmas approaching, there’s even more to going on. The shopping village will be hosting its popular Christmas markets every weekend from 25 November – 17 December and every day from 18 – 22 December.  For those after a unique and special Christmas gift, there will be a diverse range of stalls from local suppliers selling a multitude of fabulous festive gifts. At the weekends visitors can also enjoy festive singing, mulled punch, mince pies and a great festive atmosphere.

A Christmas Craft Fayre will take place from 10 – 12 November. As well as browsing from a selection of handcrafted gifts, visitors can chat with the craftspeople showcasing their talents and choose unique and bespoke gifts such as artwork, ceramics, jewellery, woodcraft and much more for family and friends. Free mulled punch, mince pies and the chance to meet Father Christmas is also on offer.

In addition, a Christmas Food Fayre will take place from 18 – 19 November when visitors can try before they buy. Stallholders will be offering a wide range of food and drink to taste for free.  As well as sampling delicious dips, nibbles, pate, cakes and puddings, it’s also the perfect opportunity to purchase food for Christmas celebrations.

Late night shopping is available on 8 December when shoppers can enjoy special discounts in selected shops from 5pm, an appearance from Father Christmas, enjoy entertainment and carol singing. The Shops and Market stay open until 8.30pm.

Carron Smith, Marketing Manager at Hatton said “We’re delighted to be hosting a number of special Christmas shopping events at Hatton. Visitors can spend the entire day at Hatton with shopping, a pub lunch, country walk and then a festive afternoon tea. It sounds like an ideal way to do Christmas shopping and just how shopping should be!”

The Hatton Estate offers a range of restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes, from turkey lunches to a festive afternoon tea with homemade scones, cakes, classic sandwiches, tea/coffee and a glass of Prosecco for just £10.95 per person (minimum of 2 people).

For those that love the great outdoors in winter, there are three walking routes across the Hatton Estate that link up Hatton Country World and Hatton Locks. The walk features 21 locks and is known as the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ to The Hatton Arms Pub & Restaurant. The walks take in towpaths and footpaths and range from 1.5 miles to 5.5 miles through fields with views over Warwick. Especially for the children, at Hatton Adventure World, they will be hosting the ever popular and magical ‘Enchanted Christmas Kingdom’. It runs every weekend from 25 November – 24 December as well as on Friday 8 December (evening) and weekdays from 18 – 22 December.  The whole family can experience a magical Christmas plus see Father Christmas in his twinkling Grotto. Well behaved children will receive a Golden Key to unlock his workshop and then choose a present from the vast range of high quality gifts in the secret toyshop.  With the ‘All Day Festive Entertainment Package’, Hatton has all the special components needed for a truly fairy-tale Christmas this year.

The Festive Entertainment Package includes entry to ‘Zoobee’s Christmas Cracker Show’ with plenty of marvellous magic to get everyone into the festive spirit, ‘Cool Colin’s Show’, Fun Fair Rides and Christmas Arts & Crafts so children can create their own family keepsake such as a decoration, Christmas card or wreath. Other activities include ‘Zoobee’s Festive Friends Puppet show’, the annual show with plenty of mischievous Christmas capers and the Reindeer Quest where children have to find 9 lost reindeer to win a prize! Plus there’s Christmas in the Farmyard and Guinea Pig Village, Festive Scales & Tails, Christmas Carolling, Funfair Rides and Adventure Play.

Carron Smith, Marketing Manager at Hatton said, “Our Enchanted Christmas Kingdom is one of the most magical events we host at Hatton. The Grotto is beautifully decorated with twinkling lights, snow and Christmas characters. Watching the children’s faces as they meet Father Christmas, his elves and reindeer is a joy to watch.”

The ‘All Day Festive Entertainment Package’ takes away the worry of finding any hidden extras as all the activities are included. Timed slots to visit Father Christmas ideally need to be pre-booked via the website.
