I have seen and i have heard alot of discussions about long distance relationships, a lot of people have been questioning if two people who live in two different countries can grow up a relationship, the question that always arises is ‘will they ever meet in person?’. I have always believed that in love, distance is nothing but a challenge, nothing come easy, some have the courage to take the adventure and some just give up their chances to win the long distance love battle. As alot of people would ask, i have questioned how to win?, this question can be answered in two ways, either to try or to ask the couples who have tried and won.

The city of Djerba is full of the winning couples, it is the melting pot of different cultures, religions, and civilizations, it is the ultimate touristic destination for those who started a dim light in two different places and they want to set their hearts on fire in one place. Djerba, they call it ‘dream island’, i would rather call it ‘lovers island’, it is such a fantasy to see those couples walking holding hands in the city’s streets and alleys in which hands of traditional incenses are coming out of the stores and shops of crafts, a smell that would attract lovers to come in and buy gifts and souvenirs, necklaces, bracelets, hats, dresses, shoes, rings…etc, as to remember the beautiful warm weather they enjoyed together. I have asked some tourists about what they like most about being in Djerba, i got the following answer from a nice young lady : ‘what’s not to love about Djerba?, it is here where i met my soulmate, i came from France to spend a holiday and he was here on a business trip, we first talked on the pirates ship on the way to ‘Ras Rmal’, we rode a camel together on the beach, it was fun, the fragrance of the blue sea, the sound of waves calling the seagull, the golden sand, it was so inspirational,at night we headed to a night club, music was so loud, we have been together since then.

Discos and night clubs in Djerba are always full of people who come to enjoy the music, they play all kinds of music, latino, dancehall, R’n’B, hiphop, blues, techno..etc, i once saw a couple dancing as if they were the only ones on the dance floor although it was crowded, love can grow anywhere, anytime. A tiny island, a multiple of places to go. My second meeting with Lyn was in Djerba. Lyn is the magazine director. Since my last article, my readers have been asking me who is Lyn and now they know. I also met Ricky and Paul, such nice and funny people. Djerba is not only for lovers to meet, it is also where you can make good friends. Midoun is where all the good hotels are, Houmet Esouk is the heart of traditions, a large market where you can find anything you desire to buy, and for those who want to study more about the customs and traditions, Guellala is the best place to visit. In Guellala there is a magnificant museum that remains dedicated to the folk art and traditions of Djerba’s inhabitants, traditional clothing, Djerban wedding ceremonies and circumcision rituals, during which the displayed costumes are usually worn, it also contains a large collection of pottery. Pack your baggage, make a reservation, call the ones you love and tell them about your destination, Djerba island, share the best of life moments, pay a visit to ‘Ras Rmal’, a zone of strong excursion, a journey into another size, in the imagination, you can watch dolphins play along the boat during this short cruise.

Djerba has a magic, a magic that would make lovers forget that they are distant even if they were thousands miles away, distance is a challenge, a challenge worth trying.
