The most exciting show you can visit over this Bank Holiday weekend is The Tanks, Trucks and Firepower Show, and Ann Evans can’t wait for this weekend’s event.

The Tanks, Trucks and Firepower Show is back for its 8th successive year and takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend in Dunchurch, Warwickshire. This show will blow your mind – literally as you experience flames, explosions, gunfire and a mass of military might!

The show is organised by the Alvis Fighting Vehicle Society and their incredible collection of tanks, armoured cars, military vehicles including the 68-ton Challenger I Main Battle Tank – the only fully restored and  working one in private hands. It’s owned by show organiser and co-founder of the AFV Society, Andrew Baker.

At the show there will be a vast display of privately owned military vehicles coming from all over the country. Last year saw an impressive 260 tanks, armoured vehicles, jeeps, field guns, recovery vehicles, fire engines and trucks, descending on the tranquil countryside around Dunchurch.

Over the weekend, there will be all kinds of amazing displays going on including a ‘Live Firing’ display which includes guns, cannons and tanks; a fantastic ‘Pyrotechnic’ display; a ‘Driving’ display showing the versatility of various tracked military vehicles, the Royal British Legion Motor Bike Riders, a display of recovery winch and tow drop, fire engines and even a car crushing spectacular!

Not to be missed is the CVRT Driving and Pyrotechnic Display. Last year was a totally thrilling experience as Andrew Baker driving an 8 ton Army Reconnaissance Track Vehicle and co founder of the AFV Society Mick Browning driving another. They displayed absolute brilliance in the control of these powerful vehicles. Reaching speeds of 50-60 mph they raced around the field, sometimes with Andrew travelling backwards, with the vehicles nose to bumper a few inches away from each other.

There will be all kinds of stalls selling a wide range of goods – military and non-military along with tank rides available and mini tank rides for the kids. Mini go karts, fairground rides, armoury, military fitness circuits and much more.

With food tents, a beer tent and live music over the weekend, what more could you ask for?

There’s even camping available.

The Tanks, Trucks and Firepower Show takes place 26th, 27th and 28th August just 1 mile from Dunchurch, near Draycote Water, Dunchurch, Rugby, CV22 6NR. Gates open 10am-5pm.

Ticket prices: 1 day adult admission £8; 3 day adult admission £16 (Plus booking fees).
