In reality, what this really means is: bring whichever spirits your heart (I mean… your liver) desires and leave it to your personal mixologist to conjure up a delightful creation of tailored cocktails for you and your drinking buddies.
This new drinking concept was popularised by BYOC at their Covent Garden branch, where pre-printed menus and predictable mixes were replaced by imaginative flow and personalised service.
In short, you pay £30 a head for 2 hours of uninterrupted cocktail-making magic. Simply arrive armed with your favourite spirits and your personal bartender will use their own mixers, juices, syrups, fruits and herbs to make you a dynamic selection of cocktails. If the default 2 hour slots are not sufficient for your hydration needs, then you can always extend for just £10 p/h per head.
This Camden branch brings an added dose of flair by styling itself as a 1920’s-themed cocktail bar, complete with casino tables and decade-appropriate attired staff. Descending down the stairs you really do feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you are welcomed into a dimly-lit intimate retreat, free from all the hustle and bustle of the Capital. The mood is pleasantly chilled and sophisticated, which sets this space apart from the typical drinkingestablishments found along Camden high street.
As you take your seats you’ll be greeted by your friendly bartender. Allow them to scope out your spirit selection and they’ll get underway with their cocktail wizardry. Be open to recommendations – what may initially sound amiss, can in fact be a pleasant surprise for your palette. Think cinnamon-dusted-vodka and parsley-infused-gin cocktails.
Don’t be afraid to ask your bartender to make something spicier/sourer/sweeter. There’s no doubt they’ll be able to accommodate your tastes. It’s entirely up to you what you bring as the base to your cocktails. Whether it’s a large bottle of gin, or a variety of miniature spirits, rest assured you are in safe hands.
Please note that pre-booking is an absolute must! Do this as early as possible as prime-time slots get snapped up weeks in advance.
