Comic Con is an event where the audience are as much of an attraction as the celebrities and exhibitors. Cosplay enthusiasts of all ages come dressed as their favourite superhero, dastardly villain or videogame character, going to incredible lengths to look the part.

There’s always a multitude of dealer stalls from across the UK, offering all kinds of collectables such as Anime, trading cards, Manga, DVDs, graphic novels, original art, toys, jewellery, replica weapons from films and videogames, costumes and accessories, memorabilia from TV and film and lots more.

Another favourite area is the Comic Village where visitors can see and chat to artists and writers, and of course buy their books, comics and artworks.

There’s an interesting line up of celebrities including Sam J Jones who played the iconic Flash Gordon in the 1980s film of the same name. American actor Keir Dullea who played astronaut David Bowman in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Gary Lockwood who has had a long acting career having appeared in Star Trek, Hart to Hart, Barnaby Jones, and many more TV series and movies. These and other well know names from the screen – and behind the scenes will be on hand to chat to visitors, and sign autographs.

And if that’s not enough there’s even a Glamour Zone where you can meet and have your photo taken with glamour models. The line up features Holly McGuire, Sarah Daniel, Mellie D, and Lynda Leigh. Please note that costs for autographs and photos do vary from celebrity to celebrity but there’s a full price list on the website.

Not to be missed is the Cosplay Masquerade which takes place on the Saturday and the Sunday. If you’re in costume you can participate for free, or anyone can watch and enjoy the spectacle. This takes place in the Main Stage area. And this is also where you can hear guest talks over the weekend and that’s all in with the admission price.

MCM Comic Con takes place at the Birmingham NEC on 19th-20th November 2016. Opening times and admission prices are on the website. Kids under 10 go free. For full details: http://www.mcmcomiccon.com/birmingham/
